The School Day

Our school day starts at 8:30am and here at Boltons, after registration, every day begins with Collective Worship. All teachers lead Collective Worship and once every half term the pupils in different classes take charge and plan and lead the act of Collective Worship. Our vicar Revd Banks, or one of his colleagues, leads Collective Worship once a week; parents are welcome to all of our acts of Collective Worship. Every Friday we hold an achievement assembly, when we celebrate together achievements from the week; these are not always academic achievements, as we value very much the Christian values that we see our pupils displaying on a daily basis .

A member of staff is always on the playground at 8:15am to greet pupils in the morning and to see them safely into school.

Pupils are split between 5 teaching spaces, but for some lessons, such as art, staff and pupils do move around. The morning lessons run from 8:45am until 12 noon and the afternoon sessions run between 1:00pm amd 3:00pm. Most classes cover the core subjects of maths, English and science in the morning sessions and then all other subjects are worked on during the afternoon sessions. KS1 children have a morning break at 10:30am and an afternoon break at around 2:25pm. Children in KS2 have a morning break at 10:45am. At break time we run a healthy tuck shop for KS2 pupils and they may purchase fruit or toast.

We now offer school meals cooked on site and these are very popular with all pupils.

The school day ends at 3pm, but staff run after school clubs most nights of the week- see our clubs page for more information.

All pupils are expected to wear uniform. The school uniform is a grey sweatshirt and red polo shirt, these can be either plain or with the school logo, and black or grey trousers or skirts. Pupils are also expected to wear sensible black school shoes; not trainers. Pupils with long hair must have this tied back. For PE pupils may wear either black or red shorts with a white t-shirt; in colder weather pupils may wear a tracksuit and a black sweatshirt with the school logo. We ask all pupils to have indoor shoes and many wear their PE pumps for this. No jewellery, other than small stud earrings and watches may be worn in school and earrings must be removed before all PE lessons.

Out of school hours we run an After School Club until 5:30pm every night of the week; this is run by Miss Amanda Cowan and is very well used. To book a place or make an enquiry about the club contact the school office on 016973 42217.

There is a Pre-School on the site, although they are run independently of school and Pre-School staff also run a Holiday Club. The contact for Pre-School is  Mrs D Farrell on 016973 44462.
