Mental Health and Well-being

At Boltons CofE School, we are committed to supporting the emotional health and wellbeing of our pupils and staff, parents and carers. We aim to be a team who support, listen, accept, value and empower those in our community by understanding that we are all unique and have resilience to overcome challenges and celebrate achievements.

At our school, we promote a mentally healthy environment through:

  • Promoting our school values and encouraging a sense of belonging
  • Promoting pupil voice and opportunities to participate in decision-making
  • Celebrating academic and non-academic achievements in order to promote self-esteem
  • Providing opportunities to develop a sense of worth through taking responsibility for themselves and others
  • Providing opportunities to reflect
  • Access to appropriate support that meets their needs
  • Helping children to understand their emotions and feelings better and to feel comfortable sharing any concerns or worries
  • Helping children to develop emotional resilience and to manage setbacks

Emotional Learning Support Assistant (E.L.S.A.)

Mrs Winder and Mrs Lowther are fully trained ELSAs who work with individual children who require support for their emotional literacy. They design bespoke sessions for each child depending on their needs and specific requirements. This has proved to be a fantastic addition to our provision in school and the children love working with them and gain so much from their sessions.
