Year 1

Welcome to Year 1!

My name is Miss Bell and I am the Year 1 teacher.  😊

Year 1 begins the children’s journey into Key Stage 1, so it’s a very exciting year!

This year our class consists of 11 children and we are fortunate to have Mrs Gemmell supporting us.

A day in the life of Year 1

Our days are busy and filled with lots of exciting and enjoyable lessons. Our mornings consist of Level 5 Twinkl Phonics, maths, English and handwriting practice. During the afternoons the children are taught the foundation subjects, this includes history/geography, science, R.E, PSHE, Music, P.E, art/design and technology and computing. Some afternoons Year 1 will join with Year 2 and they will either be taught by myself or Miss Anderson.

Homework

Weekly spellings  – Your child will receive spellings every Friday linked to their phonics and the year 1 common exception words. Spellings will be tested every Friday. They will also receive 1 piece of English or maths work to complete.
